Internships: Summer 2026

Welcome

Benjamin Britten Academy of Music and Mathematics is a community built on a shared love of learning. We work together to enable scholars to develop curiosity in their subject and aspire to deepen their understanding across the breadth of the curriculum. Scholars are taught by subject experts and outstanding classroom practitioners. We are incredibly proud to have achieved the highest outcomes for our scholars at GCSE in the local area.

At the heart of an outstanding school is a commitment to exceptional teaching, learning, and curriculum design. Every lesson is underpinned by high expectations, expert subject knowledge, and a deep understanding of how pupils learn best. Teachers plan with precision, ensuring that knowledge is sequenced logically so that pupils build secure understanding over time. Learning is active, challenging, and inclusive, enabling all pupils to achieve ambitious outcomes. Assessment is used intelligently to identify misconceptions and guide next steps, while rich discussion and questioning promote curiosity and independence. The curriculum is broad, balanced, and coherently structured to nurture both academic excellence and personal growth. Through a culture of reflection, collaboration, and innovation, teaching continues to evolve — ensuring that every learner is inspired, supported, and equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Discover what teaching is really like through the Department for Education’s Teaching Internship Programme at our school. This paid, immersive experience gives you the chance to work alongside expert teachers, engage with scholars, and build your confidence in the classroom while receiving structured support and mentoring. You’ll be welcomed into a supportive, ambitious school community that is committed to developing future teachers. Whether you’re exploring teaching as a career or taking your first step towards initial teacher training, our DfE internship offers an inspiring, hands-on introduction to a profession where you can make a genuine difference.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
