“ENTREPRENEURSHIP – living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t” –Unknown
Not only will this course enhance the skills you require for further study and in your personal life, it prepares you for a career. It gives you an insight into the world of work, which you will all enter eventually.
We will offer you the chance to see how businesses operate in the real world and how you can contribute towards their success, or alternatively how you can set up a successful business of your own.
It allows you to develop an understanding of business organisations and provides you knowledge in areas such as markets, customers, finance, and communication and information technology.
You will have the chance to visit real companies as well as complete The £10 Challenge, where you are given £10 as a loan and you try to make as much profit on that as possible by coming up with a new business idea.
We also take part in the annual ifs Student Investor Challenge where teams of four students are given £100,000 of virtual money to invest in the stock market.
In the past, students have been given the opportunity to visit the O2, The National Maritime Museum, Euro Disney and Cadbury World to experience a real business environment.
"I like that way that we use the space in business. We move around and do physical activities rather than just sit and write all the time. I think the topics that we study will be helpful to me in the future if I decide to start my own business." - Year 10 Student.
