On Friday 8 July, 25 students from Years 7,8 & 9 took part in a creative writing workshop lead by Suffolk poet Dean Parkin. Dean has published a number of his own poetry collections and in this session, through a range of lively activities. he encouraged the students to create poems of their own.
The students were rather shy at the start of the workshop but quickly relaxed and embraced the spirit of the activities, many willing to read out their poems to the others. By the end of the morning they had composed as many as six poems which they improved and typed up in the afternoon ready to be entered into a range of local and national competitions. Fingers crossed, we hear next term, that we have some winners!
