Modern Foreign Languages

The Modern Foreign Languages department consists of three teaching staff; Miss H Fisher (Head of Department), Miss K Armon and Mr Ford.

This year pupils in Year 7 will be studying French as their main language and have four 50 minute lessons a fortnight.  In Year 8 this year pupils are studying Spanish as their main language, and in Year 9, as well as continuing with French as their main language, pupils will have the opportunity to follow a taster course in Spanish as well.

Both languages are available as options in Key Stage 4.

All members of the department are committed to helping pupils to achieve their best in their language studies and always strive to make learning fun and relevant, enabling students to develop their communication and listening skills as well as improving confidence to discuss various topics, express opinions, and justify points of view.

We are committed to providing pupils with the opportunity to extend their learning with links to France and Spain. At present we run trips to Lille in France and Barcelona in Spain, which are open to all pupils. We also have a partner school in Calais and are soon to establish a link with Spain
