Benjamin Britten School
an 11-18 co-educational day school
From June 2017 onwards, Mr Sweetman and a number of students have been working together on an awesome S.T.E.M. project - a fully working 4 player arcade machine!
It has taken many hours and a lot of effort but now the arcade machine is complete. It is powered by the RASPBERRY PI micro computer and currently contains approximately 200 working games from the 80s and 90s. Games include Space Invaders, Super Mario, Bomberman and many, many more!
Students have learnt and applied a variety of skills such as measuring accurately, using saws, working with different materials, sanding and filing techniques, wiring and electronics, programming, soldering, animation and general problem solving.
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable project and now the students of Benjamin Britten can benefit from all of the hard work by enjoying a game of Sonic or Donkey Kong at lunchtimes!
Students involved: Harvey Farrow, Mohamed Abdelsalam, Kajinth Murugadas, Jenson Miles, Ethan Schroder, Billy Loughman, Tom Haden, Charlie Saunders and Ryan Holtum.
