Mathematics at Benjamin Britten is uniquely situated in its own designated facility. Opened by local member of parliament, Peter Aldous, The Foxborough Building is home to Suffolk's Centre of Excellence in Mathematics.
This beautifully designed facility provides first class support for learning. Five dedicated Computing Suites and a Mathematics Library stocked with iMacs and spanning two floors are adjacent to a suite of Mathematics teaching rooms.
Attracting Mathematics expertise from far afield and support from Russell Group universities, the Centre ensures that Mathematics education is delivered only by specialist Mathematicians and that scholars are stretched, supported and challenged.
Thank you for the outstanding care and kindness shown to my children and our family. The school has gone over and above any expectations. Parent
England's greatest composer was born here in Lowestoft and the school was constructed in his honour. As a result, the school is able to offer scholarships to those with musical aptitude and enthusiasm and a range of musical opportunities more usually found in private education.
Although additional tuition in music is not a requirement of scholars it is available in a wide field of specialisms. The school is a centre for LAMDA examinations. An enhanced Musical and, in some cases, Dance and Drama curriculum, is available for those with a particular interest in Expressive Arts.
Facilities include a purpose built and recently refurbished state of the art Theatre with Green Room and Dance Studio. Developments in the near future include a Recording Studio and Extended Practice Rooms.
I have really enjoyed the opportunities we’ve had to learn, be more independent and join all the many clubs, activities and trips. Year 7 student
The School is organised into traditional year and tutor groups. In addition to a Head of Year, each year group has a dedicated full time Assistant Head of Year. These pastoral staff are always available.
Traditional Lower and Upper School Offices are situated to provide complete approachability for the children, before, during and after lessons. Scholars, new and older, are never far from support.
Our comprehensive transition programme starts early with our partner Primary Schools.
We have a dedicated team of staff, Upper School Transition Ambassadors and Expressive Arts Leaders who work closely with Primary School students to ensure their transition to High School is smooth, exciting and worry free.
Well established links built up over many years mean opportunities are regularly provided for younger students to visit the school.
They experience learning in specialised facilities such as those found in Mathematics, Science, Computing, Expressive Arts, Technology and Physical Education.
It was so lovely to see the transformation of the school buildings when attending my child’s parents evening. The school has such a warm and welcoming feel. Parent

I like being treated as a grown up. Learning is fun and I like the way the teachers mark my work and give me help on how I could do better. Year 7 student
